AUBURN, Ala. - Auburn used strong singles and doubles play to defeat Boise State 4-1 Saturday morning. The Tigers, ranked No. 35 in the latest ITA rankings, faced the No. 57 Broncos in second-round play at the Blue Gray National Tennis Classic in Montgomery.
Auburn won the doubles point, getting wins at No. 1 and No. 3. In the first spot, Marko Krickovic and Oliver Plaskett defeated Mitchell and Patton 6-2, and Dante Saleh and Max Hinnisdaels clinched the doubles point with a 6-4 win at No. 3 over Boise State's Foley and Moyer.
The Tigers got off to a strong start in singles, winning the first set in five of six matches. Three Tigers posted singles wins before the match was clinched: Lukas Ollert at No. 1 against Boise's Thomas Tenriero (6-2, 6-0), Marko Krickovic at No. 2 against BSU's Garrett Patton (7-5, 6-0) and Max Hinnisdaels at No. 3 over Toby Mitchell (6-1, 6-4).
Sunday, Auburn will face No. 30 Mississippi State in the consolation final. Match times will be announced later.
