Nashville, Tenn. -- No. 14 Vanderbilt was too tough at home Sunday, defeating the Auburn men's tennis team 4-0 in SEC action at the Currey Tennis Center in Nashville.
Auburn's doubles tandem of Lukas Ollert and Joseph Van Dooren, playing in the third position, defeated Vanderbilt's Suresh Eswaran and Daniel Valent 6-1, although the Commodores would go on to pick up the doubles point.
Vanderbilt won the first set of all six singles matches, and captured the match 4-0 with wins at No. 4, No. 6 and No. 3.
The Tigers, now 11-4 and ranked No. 35 in the latest ITA rankings, were facing their seventh consecutive nationally ranked opponent. Auburn is now 1-2 in SEC play this season, while the Commodores are 3-1. Vanderbilt is 12-3 overall this spring, and 8-1 at home. This was Auburn's first SEC road contest of the season.
The Tigers return home to the Yarbrough Tennis Center next weekend for a pair of SEC matches, hosting Alabama Friday at 4 p.m. and No. 48 Mississippi State at 1 p.m. Sunday. Admission is free.
