FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. - Third-set wins from Oliver Plaskett and Lukas Ollert completed an Auburn comeback as the No. 51 Tigers posted a 4-2 win at No. 56 Arkansas Sunday afternoon.
Plaskett, playing at six singles, clinched the match with a 6-4 victory in the third set of his match with the Razorbacks' David Herrerias. Dropping the first set 6-1, Plaskett rallied to win the second set 6-2, and went on to seal the victory.
At number one singles, Ollert gave the Tigers a 3-2 lead with another come-from-behind performance. Shut out in the first set 0-6, Ollert regrouped and captured the next two sets 6-3, 6-1 to get the win over Arkansas' Giammarco Micolani.
"It was really a solid effort today by our guys to get this important SEC win on the road," head coach Eric Shore said. "Our guys stuck together and pushed back after losing doubles and three first sets. Oliver and Lukas lost their first sets 6-1 and 6-0, but rallied to win in three sets."
Earlier, Marko Krickovic picked up a win at number three with a 6-2, 6-4 victory over William Albanese. At number five, Dante Saleh followed with a 6-4, 6-3 win over Santiago Munoz.
The tandem of Lukas Ollert and Marko Krickovic won 6-2 at first doubles over Santiago Munoz and Branch Terrell, but Arkansas captured the remaining doubles matches to win the doubles point.
The win breaks a five-match losing streak for the Tigers in SEC play. No. 51 Auburn is now 12-7 on the season while No. 56 Arkansas is 11-9.
The Tigers return home Thursday for a pair of matches vs. Jacksonville State at 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. at the Yarbrough Tennis Center. Auburn hosts SEC opponent No. 15 Florida Saturday at 1 p.m.
