AUBURN, Ala. - The No. 7 Auburn equestrian team won all four events and earned three MOP honors as it upset third-ranked Baylor, 13-7, Saturday at the Auburn University Horse Center.
"This was a good win with the style and attitude that we have been looking for," head coach Greg Williams said. "The girls were riding for each other. We didn't get all of the points, but the ones we didn't get they knew what they did wrong. It was a good day for us."
Baylor jumped out to an early 2-0 lead, but Auburn (5-5, 1-4 SEC) responded by winning the next seven points as the Tigers led 7-3 at halftime.
In Equitation over Fences, junior Elizabeth Benson moved to 10-0 on the year, defeating Alicia Gasser, 90-86. Sophomore Ashley Foster topped Abby Jorgensen, 89-74, and sophomore Jacqueline Shilen edged out Savannah Jenkins, 85-84. Senior Demi Stiegler defeated Paige Parker, 72-70.
In Horsemanship, junior Griffin Knight earned MOP honors following her 76-73.5 victory over Paris Rice. Senior Lucy Igoe won her sixth win of the season, defeating Charlotte Green, 72-70.5, and junior Hannah Loseke topped Lacy Watson, 73-72.
Junior Hailey Munger was named MOP in Reining, defeating Ginger Chant, 71.5-0. Senior Katsy Leeman toppled Elizabeth Shank, 68-0, and junior Allie Dusha knocked off Maddison smith, 67-65.
In Equitation on the Flat, Benson earned her sixth MOP honor of the season, scoring a 93 to defeat Rachel Van Allen's 75. Senior Jennifer Delman scored a 91, bettering Paige Parker's 66, while Ashley Foster closed the match with an 85-83 victory over Alicia Gasser.
