FAYETTVILLE, Ark. - Kasey Cooper launched two home runs, including a grand slam, to pave the way for the Tigers to complete a shutout-series sweep at Arkansas winning 10-0 on Sunday. Auburn is now 41-4 on the year, 12-3 in league play and has won 16-straight games to set a program record for longest winning streak which includes 10 SEC victories along the way.
Her first home run came in the opening frame putting Auburn ahead 2-0. The junior from Dothan, Ala. launched her next shot in grand slam fashion during the second inning to put Auburn in cruise control leading 6-0. The homeruns were Cooper's 50th and 51st of her career and 15th of the year.
The Tigers scored nine of their 10 runs courtesy of the longball as senior second baseman Emily Carosone joined the homerun club in the fourth inning with a two-run shot. Sophomore Whitney Jordan added another homer to lead off the fifth.
Rachael Walters (7-2) started inside the circle for Auburn and was dominant in her 20th appearance of the year. The junior from Powhatan, Va. threw seven strikeouts in 4.0 innings, allowing three hits and struck out the side in the second inning. Kaylee Carlson turned in a two-strikeout fifth-inning performance to close the game. Walters and Carlson combined to dish out nine of the 15 outs in the game on strikeouts.
Auburn posted their first SEC series shutout since 2007 against South Carolina with only one Razorback (17-28, 1-14) reaching third base over the weekend. The Tigers hit homeruns by eight different players to help lead to a 54-0 margin of victory during the 15-inning series.
