AUBURN, Ala. - Senior Lexi Davis became Auburn's all-time winningest pitcher tossing her 61st career victory as No. 3/2 Auburn beat Troy 8-1 on Wednesday evening at Jane B. Moore Field. Auburn improves to 34-4 on the year while Davis takes improves her season record to 5-0.

"It's really good to see," head coach Clint Myers said after the game. "Lexi has been working hard since we've been here, and she's getting the rewards she deserves. I'd love to see her have gotten that shutout but she went the whole seven innings - she earned that 61st win tonight and I'm real proud of her."

Davis threw seven strikeouts allowing only three hits with tonight's game coming a month and a day after moving into a two-way tie for the program record.

"I've known for a little while that I haven't done it yet, but I was just trying not to think about," Davis said following the win. "I'm glad tonight we could do it at home, I was waiting for the home crowd. I never knew I was going to hold a record at Auburn, but I'm sure glad it's that one."

Auburn's offense got to work quickly to help Davis' win driving in four runs each the first two frames.

A Jade Rhodes' two-RBI single started the scoring spree and a two-run and Madi Gipson's two-run homer made a near dent in the literal and figurative scoreboard putting Auburn ahead 4-0.

Sophomore Whitney Jordan led off the second frame with a walk and took home on a wild pitch. An Emily Carosone two-RBI single led to more scoring and Rhodes added a double to score her senior classmate and put the Tigers in control.

Troy's (23-12) Ashley Rainey took the loss falling to 12-10 on the year and Heather Johnston hit a solo homerun as the Trojans evaded a run-rule decision in the top of the fifth home run with her hit.
