Auburn stays steady in polls heading to Iron Bowl

AUBURN, Ala. - The Iron Bowl will be a battle between of Top 25 teams as well as the top two teams in the SEC West.

Auburn came in at No. 16 in both the coaches poll and the Associated Press poll Sunday, setting the stage for Saturday's game at No. 1 Alabama at 2:30 p.m. that will be televised by CBS.

The Tigers held steady in the coaches poll and moved up two spots in the AP poll. Auburn was ranked 16th Sunday in the Football Writers Association of America Super 16 poll.

The new College Football Playoff standings will be released Tuesday.

Auburn improved to 8-3 overall with its 55-0 win over Alabama A&M on Saturday night. The Tigers are 5-2 in the Southeastern Conference. Alabama beat Chattanooga 31-3 Saturday. The Tide is 11-0 overall and 7-0 in the league.

Auburn coach Gus Malzahn offered this brief scouting report on Alabama after Saturday's win over Alabama A&M.

"Obviously, they are undefeated. They are very talented. That's really my first impression," he said.

Auburn has a 7-3 record in Tuscaloosa.
