ATHENS, Ga. ÃÆ'Æ'¢ÃƒÆ'¢'¬" Luke Jarvis homered and Davis Daniel pitched six shutout innings as No. 16 Auburn baseball downed Georgia 4-1 Sunday to take the series at Foley Field.

"The team was on lockdown today. We played great defense for the whole ballgame, just solid. Davis Daniel to win his first SEC road start. That was his best outing of the year. He threw six complete innings. He got their two best hitters in a tough situation. I tip my hat to him.

"We just finished. We talked about attitude with our team today and the guys committed to it for nine innings and we can't complain with winning an SEC road series. It's another good weekend for us."

The victory is Auburn's 20th of the season in its first 26 games, the fastest the Tigers have reached 20 wins since opening the 2003 season 20-5. Auburn has won its first six series of the season for the first time since winning its first 10 in 2003.

The Montgomery, Ala.-native Daniel (2-0) tied his career high with six shutout innings. He struck out six with one walk. Corey Herndon and Andrew Mitchell both pitched scoreless innings in relief. Cole Lipscomb pitched the ninth with one run allowed.

The Tigers (20-6, 5-1 SEC) struck first in the fourth inning with a 2-run homer by Jarvis that also scored Jonah Todd for a 2-0 lead.

Auburn tacked on some insurance in the ninth with Todd scoring on an error after a Jarvis infield hit. Jarvis then came in to score three batters later on a wild pitch to make it 4-0 in favor of the Tigers.

Jarvis tied his season high with three hits. Todd scored two runs, stole a base and had his team-best eighth double. He also made the final out of the game on a sprawling catch at the warning track in left center field.

Bulldogs starter Chase Adkins (3-2) struck out a career-best eight in eight innings, but allowed two runs on four hits.

Georgia (10-15, 1-5 SEC) got its lone run in the ninth on a sac fly by Will Campbell.

Auburn is in action next on Tuesday at 7 pm CT when it faces Alabama in the 2017 MAX Capital City Classic at Riverwalk Stadium in Montgomery.
