AUBURN, Ala. -- Luke Jarvis homered and scored three times including the game-winning run as Auburn baseball defeated Kennesaw State 6-4 Wednesday at Plainsman Park.
"I hated to see them come back and tie, but I continue to try and embrace the journey of us trying to just battle and earn everything we get," Auburn head coach Butch Thompson said. "We didn't give up the lead. To come right back out and score after they did was huge. For Cole to come out there and record the last 3 outs was big too."
After the Owls scored four in the eighth to tie it, Auburn's Bowen McGuffin plated Jarvis on a single back through the middle and Daniel Robert forced another run home on a bases-loaded walk to put the Tigers back on top 6-4.
Auburn (10-4) took a 1-0 lead in the second inning on a RBI double by Blake Logan that plated Conor Davis. The Tigers stretched their advantage to 3-0 with in a pair in the fourth on a run-scoring double from Jarvis and a sac fly by Logan.
Logan's sacrifice fly was the 14th in his career moving him into a tie for third place among active Division I hitters.
Jarvis drove a 1-2 pitch over the centerfield wall to give Auburn a 4-0 lead in the sixth.
Corey Herndon pitched a career-long 5.1 innings out of the bullpen. He allowed three runs with two strikeouts. Cole Lipscomb got the win after pitching the final 1.2 innings. He improved to 3-0.
Conor Davis had two hits and scored twice for Auburn. Robert has reached base in 29 straight games dating back to 2016.
Auburn finished with a season-high five doubles.
Kennesaw State's Austin Upshaw had three hits. Grant Williams had two RBI as the Owls fell to 6-6.
Chris Erwin took the loss out of the bullpen for KSU. He allowed two runs and walked four.
Auburn is in action next Friday when it opens a three-game series with Presbyterian.
