AUBURN, Ala. ÃÆ'Æ'¢ÃƒÆ'¢'¬" Eleven members of the Auburn equestrian team earned NCEA All-Academic team honors, including three on the first team, the National Collegiate Equestrian Association announced Wednesday. The annual honor roll was also announced with 14 Auburn student-athletes placed on the list.
Senior Tory Hoft and sophomores Lauren Diaz and Megan Rauh were placed on the American Quarter Horse Association NCEA Academic First Team. Recipients must have compete in a minimum of 70 percent of the school's meets, not including demo or exhibition rides. They also must have earned a cumulative grade-point average of 3.5 while maintaining full-time enrollment in the preview spring and fall semesters.
Earning a spot on the American Quarter Horse Association NCEA Academic Second Team was senior Ashley Foster and sophomores Caitlin Boyle, Betsy Brown, and Ali Fratessa. In this category, student-athletes much have competed in 60 percent of the year's meets and have earned a GPA of 3.25.
Rounding out the 11 and representing Auburn on the Honorable Mention team were sophomore Ashton Alexander and Blair McFarlin and junior Alexa Rivard. Requirements include 50 percent and a GPA of 3.0.
Caroline Becker, Boyle, Brown, Caitlin Creel, Diaz, Foster, Fratessa, Hoft, Margaret Hurt, Kennedy Knapic, Mackenzie Michaels, Rauh, Casey Schmitz, and Abby Wagner represented Auburn on the American Paint Horse Association NCEA Academic Honor Roll. The NCEA honor awards the top academic student-athletes who have a cumulative GPA of 3.25.
Auburn continues the postseason at the NCEA National Championship, competing as the No. 3 seed overall in Waco, Texas. The Tigers will begin competition Friday, April 14, taking on the winner of No. 6 South Carolina/No. 11 South Dakota State.
