AUBURN, Ala. - The No. 7 Auburn softball team dropped a 6-1 result to Missouri Friday night at Jane B. Moore Field. The orange and blue Tigers (34-7, 8-5 SEC) had six different players reach base in the seven-inning contest.

"There was a lot of things we didn't do right [tonight]," said head coach Clint Myers. "We still had about 10 quality, hard-hit balls, but they were right at people. We're a good ball club; we're still trying to figure it out."

Kasey Cooper belted her 64th career home run to guide the offense. Courtney Shea reached base twice with a single and a walk. Victoria Draper, Alyssa Rivera and Carlee Wallace rounded out the offense with one hit apiece.

In the circle, Kaylee Carlson suffered defeat for only the second time this season. She tossed a complete game and struck out four in the process.

Auburn opened the scoring in its first chance at the plate when Cooper drove a pitch over the wall in left-center for her seventh roundtripper of the season.

Missouri (24-16, 5-7) tied the game in the second and eventually took the lead in the fourth on the same play - a solo home run from its catcher Kirsten Mack.

The road team tacked on two more runs in both the sixth and seventh frames to extend its lead to 6-1.

Jenna Abbott and Draper began the home half of the seventh with walks. Two batters later, the bases were loaded with one out. However, Auburn was unable to continue the rally and eventually fell 6-1.

The two teams resume the series Saturday night at 6 p.m. The tilt at Jane B. Moore Field can be streamed on SEC Network+, 95.9 FM and the official Auburn app.
