AUBURN, Ala. - The No. 7 Auburn softball team clinched its fourth conference series of the season with a 6-1 victory against Missouri Sunday afternoon. Kaylee Carlson allowed just three hits in a complete game at Jane B. Moore Field.

"I'll go and put [Kaylee] in the circle for my chance to win any time," said head coach Clint Myers. "She's deserving of the accolades because she goes out there and she competes."

Carlson was on the front foot all afternoon long as she tossed 27 first-pitch strikes en route to her SEC-leading 21st win of 2017.

"We've got to pitch ahead [in the count]," stated Myers. "She had the changeup, so that was a big pitch. She's really worked good the last half of the game. When Kaylee is most effective is when she is working ahead."

Victoria Draper and Haley Fagan each racked up two hits, while Alyssa Rivera and Kendall Veach combined for five RBI on two hits.

Auburn (36-7, 10-5 SEC) opened the scoring ledger in the bottom of the third when Fagan roped a single to left with two outs to score Draper, who wheeled her way home from second to make it 1-0.

In the fifth, the home team busted out its biggest inning in conference play this season by plating five runs and extended its lead to 6-0.

Carlee Wallace and Draper led off with infield singles to put the first two runners on. Following an out, Fagan drew a walk to load the bases. River then delivered with a chopper up the middle to score two.

Three batters later, with two outs, Veach smashed a three-run triple to the right-center gap to double Auburn's advantage to 6-0.

Missouri (24-18, 5-9) got a run back with a solo home run in the sixth, but Carlson retired the next six hitters to send Auburn to a series victory.

Auburn returns to the field Wednesday for a non-conference affair with Kennesaw State. First pitch is scheduled for 6 p.m. at Jane B. Moore Field.
