- Auburn travels to face SEC West leaders Mississippi State this weekend for three games at Dudy-Noble Field. The Tigers trail MSU 87-104-1 in the all-time series including a 32-52 mark in Starkville. The Bulldogs face rival Ole Miss Tuesday.
- Mississippi State (28-14, 13-5) is led at the plate by their first three spots in the lineup. Lead-off man Jake Mangum with a .347 BA, 12 2B, 16 RBI and 10 SB. Second place hitter Brent Rooker is the front runner for SEC Player of the Year and the Golden Spikes Award. He is batting .400 with 16 HR and 58 RBI along with 16 steals. No. 3 hitter Ryan Gridley is having a career year with a .341 BA, 5 HR and 31 RBI.
- On the mound, LHP Konnor Pilkington has been a constant on Friday night with a 4-3 record and 3.30 ERA. He's struck out 77 in 62.2 innings. The back end of the bullpen is anchored by right-handers Spencer Price (3-1, 14 saves, 2.10 ERA) and Riley Self (4-0, 2.67 ERA).
