Auburn picked to finish second in SEC, Nine Tigers earn All-SEC preseason honors at #SECMD17

AUBURN, Ala. - Reporters at SEC Media Days picked Auburn to finish second in the SEC West this season and placed nine Tigers on preseason All-SEC teams, including first-teamers Braden Smith and Daniel Carlson.

The Tigers received the second most votes to be the overall SEC Champion.

Running back Kamryn Pettway was voted to the All-SEC second team, along with four defensive players: lineman Marlon Davidson, linebacker Tre' Williams, and defensive backs Tray Matthews and Carlton Davis.

Defensive lineman Dontavius Russell was selected to the third team while Kerryon Johnson was named the third team all-purpose specialist.

Georgia is the media's pick to win the East, with the Bulldogs narrowly edging Florida, followed by Tennessee, South Carolina, Kentucky, Vanderbilt and Missouri.

Reporters picked Alabama to win the West, followed by Auburn, LSU, Arkansas, Texas A&M, Mississippi State and Ole Miss.

In the voting for overall SEC champion, Alabama and Auburn finished first and second, respectively, ahead of Georgia, LSU and Florida, with South Carolina, Vanderbilt and Arkansas each receiving one vote to win the conference.
