CONROE, Texas ÃÆ'Æ'¢ÃƒÆ'¢'¬" After ending her career as one of the most decorated players in NCAA softball history, former Auburn third baseman Kasey Cooper has signed a professional contract with the Scrap Yard Dawgs of National Pro Fastpitch (NPF).
Cooper becomes the fifth Tiger to take to the professional ranks this summer, joining Angel Bunner (USSSA Pride), Emily Carosone (Chicago Bandits), Haley Fagan (Akron Racers) and Jade Rhodes (Scrap Yard Dawgs).
In her four stellar years on The Plains, Cooper hit .387 with 280 hits, including 67 home runs, 52 doubles and four triples, to go along with 270 RBI ÃÆ'Æ'¢ÃƒÆ'¢'¬" the most in SEC history and eighth-most in the NCAA record books.
The Dothan, Ala. native broke the Auburn records for games played (257) and games started (256) while earning All-American and All-SEC honors. During her time in the orange and blue, she was tabbed the National Player of the Year, SEC Player of the Year, National Freshman of the Year and SEC Scholar-Athlete of the Year.
Cooper was part of the winningest senior class in program history that amassed 205 wins over the past four seasons. She and her fellow seniors produced four of Auburn's seven all-time 40-plus-win seasons, including two campaigns with at least 50 victories.
Cooper is set join the Dawgs immediately while also representing her country on the USA Softball Women's National Team.
