Cross Country women 6th, men 7th in USTFCCA Regional Rankings

AUBURN, Ala. - Auburn cross country rose in the USTFCCA South Region rankings following an impressive performance at the Louisville Cross Country Classic. The women debuted in the poll at 6th after being unranked while the men climbed seven spots from 14th to 7th. Both jumps were the largest climbs in either poll.

The Auburn women claimed 13th at the Louisville Classic 5k as junior Brenda Kigen led the way with a 13th place finish with a time of 16:55.2. Freshmen Joyce Kimeli and Faith Bett, running in their first collegiate meet, clocked a sub-18 minute finish to place second and third on the team.

Senior Kevin Wyss continued to lead the men's team with a team-best 24:31.2 in the 8k, an improvement of 1:10 off his previous 8k at the Bulldog SEC Preview. Fellow seniors Wesley Curles (24:41.9) and Coleman Churitch (24:48.9) finished second and third for the Tigers.

Auburn cross country returns to action Oct. 13, at the Crimson Classic in Tuscaloosa, Ala.
