AUBURN, Ala. - Auburn track and field is set to return to Nashville, Tenn. on Friday and Saturday for the fifth annual Vanderbilt Invitational held at the Vanderbilt Multipurpose Facility.

The Tigers will complete a stretch of consecutive weekends on the campus of Vanderbilt University to open up the 2018 indoor season. Last weekend at the Commodore Invitational, Auburn's athletes compiled 18 personal records and 10 wins, including Akeem Bloomfield's win in the men's 400m with a nation-best time of 45.92 that saw him earn SEC Men's Co-Runner of the Week honors.

"This weekend should be another good opportunity to see where we are," Auburn head coach Ralph Spry said. "This is going to be a much larger meet in terms of more competitive teams, but we are trying to progress each weekend. I like what we did last week. I thought that we got off to a good start."

Auburn is one of 22 teams slated to compete, including fellow SEC teams Alabama, Mississippi State, Missouri, Ole Miss and Vanderbilt. Other teams in attendance include Oklahoma, UConn, Georgia Tech, Maryland, Memphis, Middle Tennessee, SMU, Belmont, Furman, Kennesaw State, SMU, Southeast Missouri, Southern Illinois, Southern Mississippi, Tulane UAB and Western Kentucky.

"This weekend we will definitely take a full squad, so we will get a better picture of where we are," Spry said. "I'm looking forward to the challenge. It will be a much more competitive meet, and it's a chance to get a little bit better and prove ourselves. It should be a competitive weekend."

The Commodore Invitational is scheduled to begin Friday with field events at 4 p.m. CT and running events at 7 p.m. Live results can be found at http://www.cfpitiming.com/2018_Indoor_Season/Vandy_Invite_2018/Vandy_Invite_2018.html.
