Team Notes

Responded from a loss in the series finale vs. Northeastern last weekend to win its next four games to start this week ... improved to 19-1 with the four wins, matching the 1997 team for the best 20-game start in program history ... trailed 4-1 in the seventh versus Memphis but scored three runs in the frame and one more in the eighth to earn the win ... Luke Jarvis came through with the pinch-hit, game-winner as he ripped the first pitch he saw into left field ... Casey Mize matched a career-high with 13 strikeouts for the second straight start and earned his fifth straight win to start the season in the opener against Texas A&M ... Mize became the first Auburn pitcher to win his first five starts of a season since Tim Hudson did so in 1997 ... the Tigers struck out a season-high 14 batters in the game ... Auburn clinched the series with another comeback win behind an eight-run eighth inning against the Aggies Saturday ... the series victory against Texas A&M marked the Tigers' first since 2014 ... Jay Estes drove in the game-tying and go-ahead runs on a two-RBI single through the left side before Steven Williams provided the big blow with a grand slam, the Tigers' second of the season ... Auburn's eight-run frame matched most in an inning this season and the team's 18th inning this season with four or more runs ... the two wins during the week when trailing or tied in the eighth inning were the sixth and seventh this year ... Williams also homered a day later and is now tied for the team lead with five long balls ... he has driven in a team-best 28 runs and is one shy of matching Conor Davis' freshman total from a year ago ... prior to that, the last freshman with that many RBI was Casey McElroy, who drove in 35 runs in 2009 ... the team totaled four more home runs in the week and increased its season total to 23 ... Auburn didn't hit its 23rd home run a season ago until May 6 -- the 48th game of the season.
