COLLEGE STATION, Texas - No. 12 Auburn softball was unable to avoid the series sweep vs. the 11th-ranked Texas A&M Aggies, falling 7-1 in Sunday's finale at Davis Diamond.
The Aggies (40-12, 13-8) scored their first four runs on two swings of the bat by first baseman Tori Vidales as she double dipped for a pair of 2-run homeruns in the first and third innings. They scored one more in the third on a wild pitch and added two more runs in the fourth to take a 7-0 lead.
Auburn starter Kaylee Carlson was relieved in the third inning after five runs allowed on six hits in 2.0 innings of work. Ashlee Swindle (2.0 innings) and Kara Bilodeau (2.0) tossed the final four innings in relief duty. Bilodeau, who saw her first action since March 21 against Alabama State, was solid in her 2.0 innings of work allowing no hits and striking out one.
Carlson was ultimately charged with the loss to drop to 19-6 on the season while Aggies starter Lexi Smith improved to 9-2.
Tannon Snow broke up the shutout bid in the sixth as she doubled off the wall in left field to plate her sister, Taylon. The Chino Hills, Calif. product was 2-for-3 for the day.
The Tigers tallied seven hits with three going for extra bases for their best offensive performance of the series. Courtney Shea doubled in her first at bat for her team-leading 10th two-bagger of the season.
Auburn concludes the SEC regular season slate with an 11-12 record and currently sits at 38-14 overall with two nonconference games to play. The Tigers will conclude the regular season next Sunday, May 6th, in Chattanooga, Tenn. in a doubleheader vs. the Chattanooga Mocs.
