More than half the Auburn women's golf roster competed in various tournaments around the world over the last week-plus, highlighted by three players at the European Ladies Team Championships.
Rising junior Elena Hualde (Spain), rising sophomore Julie McCarthy (Ireland) and incoming freshman Anika Bolčíková (Slovakia) competed for their respective countries at the five-day event in Murhof, Austria, July 10-14.
McCarthy and Team Ireland had the top showing, finishing eighth in the stroke-play qualifying and advancing to the Flight A bracket of match play. Hualde and Team Spain missed the championship bracket by one stroke, but went 3-0 in the second flight of match play to win Flight B. Hualde went 1-1-1 in her three matches. Bolčíková helped Slovakia also make it to Flight B, where she went 1-2 in match play and Slovakia went 1-1-1 in the team competition.
On this side of the Atlantic, rising sophomore Mychael O'Berry competed in the U.S. Girls Junior Championship at Poppy Hills in Pebble Beach, Calif., last week. She advanced to match play with a tie for 49th place in the 36-hole stroke play qualifying, then won her first-round match before falling in the Round of 32.
In other action, rising junior Kayley Marschke tied for 16th place at the Georgia Women's Open, shooting a two-day 148 (+4). Rising senior Melanie Talbott also competed but withdrew after the first round.
