AUBURN, Ala. – For the second year in a row, nine Auburn players earned a spot on the preseason coaches All-SEC first, second and third teams, which were announced Thursday.
Though no Auburn player made the first team, quarterback Jarrett Stidham, wide receiver Ryan Davis, defensive tackle Derrick Brown, linebacker Deshaun Davis and cornerback Jamel Dean were all voted to the second team by the league's coaches.
The other four – offensive lineman Marquel Harrell, defensive linemen Marlon Davidson and Dontavius Russell and defensive back Javaris Davis – were named to the third team.
Auburn's nine representatives ranks third in the SEC, and it's the same nine players who were selected to the All-SEC teams by the media last month at SEC Media Days.
Coaches were not allowed to vote for their own players.
The Tigers, ranked No. 9 in the preseason AP Top 25, open the season in nine days against No. 6 Washington as part of the Chick-fil-A Kickoff game in Atlanta. The game on Sept. 1 is scheduled to kick off at 2:30 p.m. CT and will be televised on ABC.
