WEST POINT, Miss. – Playing in her first tournament at Auburn, freshman Anika Bolcíková is currently atop the leaderboard at the Magnolia Invitational after two rounds.

Though her scores won't count toward Auburn's team score because she's playing as an individual, Bolcíková shot the lowest round of the tournament Monday with a 6-under 66. She made six birdies, three on the front nine and three on the back nine, and didn't bogey a single hole on the day. She's now at 7-under for the event, three strokes ahead of the next competitor.

"You have to love bogey-free golf," Auburn head coach Melissa Luellen said. "It is obvious that she likes the rhythm of playing in a golf tournament. When I asked her what she shot at the end of the round, she said 'I don't know, but I think it was my best golf.' It will be a great challenge for her to go out and play shot by shot tomorrow and see if she can post another score under par.

"I'm also very proud of the team for improved scoring from yesterday, and we're looking for continued improvement tomorrow."

As a team, Auburn shot 287 (-1) Monday and was one of just four teams to shoot under par for the round. The Tigers are currently in sixth place at 582 (+6) through the first two rounds at Old Waverly Golf Club.

Kaleigh Telfer also shot under par in the second round with a 3-under 69. The sophomore birdied four holes on the front nine and also made one of the tournament's five eagles on 15. Through two rounds, she's at even par and in a tie for 13th on the overall player leaderboard.

Sophomore Julie McCarthy and junior Elena Hualde Zúñiga both shot rounds of even par Monday. McCarthy and fellow sophomore Mychael O'Berry are both currently tied for 16th. The latter is playing as an individual and followed her 72 in round one with a 1-over 73 on Monday. Zúñiga will enter the third round in a tie for 22nd.

Like Bolcíková, Brooke Sansom is also playing in her first tournament for Auburn. The redshirt freshman shot a 74 (+2) on Monday and is currently tied for 25th at 3-over.
