AUBURN, Ala. – The Auburn baseball team is ranked No. 20 in the USA TODAY Preseason Coaches Poll, marking the Tigers fifth preseason ranking entering 2019.
The team has also been ranked No. 15 by Perfect Game/Rawlings, No. 17 by Baseball America, No. 22 by D1 Baseball and No. 23 by Collegiate Baseball.
Auburn is one of eight teams from the Southeastern Conference ranked in the top 25, marking the most teams in any league ranked in the poll.
The Tigers finished the 2018 season ranked No. 9 in the USA TODAY Coaches Poll, marking the program's highest end-of-season ranking since 1998.
Auburn is coming off a record-setting season in which the team went 43-23, won the Raleigh Regional by outscoring its opponents 40-12 and advanced to the second super regional in program history and the first since 1999.
The Tigers started the season 15-0, marking the second best start and third longest winning streak in program history, and ultimately notched its highest win total in a season since 2010. Last season also marked the first time Auburn advanced to back-to-back NCAA Tournaments since 2002-03.
With less than a month before opening day, Auburn prepares to build on its momentum with a team led by junior Davis Daniel, Will Holland and four returning freshmen All-American in Tanner Burns, Cody Greenhill, Edouard Julien and Steven Williams. The Tigers also welcome 18 newcomers to the 2019 roster.
Auburn begins the 2019 campaign with a three-game series against Georgia Southern from Feb. 15-17.
