Auburn, Ala.—The Auburn track and field will compete in the 52nd Tennessee Relays at the Tom Black Track at LaPorte Stadium on the University of Tennessee campus, Thursday through Saturday. It will mark the Tigers' first trip to the Tennessee Relays since 2005.
Action will begin on Thursday at 11 a.m. CT with the women's heptathlon as Tigers' junior Natosha Jordan will be competing in the event for the first time this outdoor season. First day action will be light as three other Auburn athletes will be in action, including Cade Antonucci, Erik Ebel and John Putnam in the men's javelin throw, while Ebel will also compete in the hammer throw Thursday.
"I'm looking for some good marks this weekend," Auburn head coach Ralph Spry said. "The weather looks like it should be good. We're planning on getting some fast sprint times. Anthony Schwartz is going to run open 100 meters and Shaun Shivers has been running well in the 200 meters. We'll either run a 4x1 or a 4x2, but whichever relay we run there, I expect to run well."
A full day of action will take place on Friday and Saturday. Field events Friday will begin at 10 a.m. with the women's hammer throw, while running events will start at 1:45 p.m. (men's 110m hurdles) and conclude at 7:05 p.m. (women's 5000m).
"We're going to rest our distance runners probably this weekend because it's a long season for that group to get them ready for our home meet and SECs," Spry said. "I expect the throwers to continue to get better each week. All the throwers will be out there throwing this weekend. It should be a good field, a good test and a good challenge. I'm looking for improvement. Staying healthy and improvement is the name of the game for us."
Over 20 teams will be participating in the three-day meet, including host Tennessee, and Kentucky from the Southeastern Conference.
Friday and Saturday's action will air online via SEC Network+ online and on the ESPN app. Live results can be followed online at https://auburntige.rs/TNRelays.
