Fayetteville, Ark.—The Auburn women's track and field team had numerous outstanding performances to finish eighth at the 2019 Southeastern Conference Outdoor Championships, its best team finish since 2012. Auburn's weekend was highlighted on the women's side by an SEC Champion, four medal performances, two school records and 14 personal bests.

Saturday's final day saw four women score for the Tigers, while on the men's side freshman Anthony Schwartz established a collegiate best running a 10.21 to finish sixth in the men's 100m dash. The event was extremely fast as the top seven all ran personal-bests.

Tori McKinley, the sixth-place finisher in the shot put on Friday, finished eighth in the discus during the final day of competition with a personal-best 49.96m/163-11 on her sixth and final throw of the competition.

Joyce Kimeli and Brenda Kigen had big performances in the women's 5000m, finishing in personal-bests times to finish seventh and eighth respectively. Kimeli posted the No. 3 fastest time in Auburn history, crossing in 16:06.50, while Kigen erased 12 seconds off her previous best to finish in 16:06.88, the fifth fastest-time ever at AU.

Senior Skyler Daniel scored for the second consecutive year in the women's high jump, placing eighth. Daniel equaled a PR by clearing 1.75m/5-8.75, a mark she last cleared outdoors at the 2018 SEC Championships in Knoxville, Tenn.

The Tiger men finished 13th with 17 points. Arkansas won the women's team race, while LSU won the men's SEC title.

Auburn's weekend was highlighted by junior Kylee Carter's win in the women's javelin, becoming the program's first-ever SEC Outdoor Champion in the event.

Redshirt freshman Madi Malone and Kimeli each broke school records during the meet, while earning silver medals in the process.

The SEC Indoor runner-up in the weight throw, Malone took second in the women's hammer throw, breaking her own school-record with a toss of 65.33m/214-4.

Racing for just the third time ever in the 3000m steeplechase, Kimeli ran fantastic, crushing the Auburn school record by 25 seconds, finishing in 10:00.94. Kimeli broke Rachel Given's previous record of 10:26.25 set in 2014 and in the process moved into No. 11 nationally in the event.
