AUBURN, Ala. – Add Brooke Sansom and Chandler Rosholt to the field for next month's U.S. Women's Amateur at Old Waverly Golf Club in Mississippi. The two rising sophomores both finished top five at separate qualifier events this week to earn their spot.
Sansom, an SEC All-Freshman Team selection, shot a 66 (-6) Monday with six birdies and no bogeys to place first at the qualifier in Roswell, Georgia. On the same day, Rosholt finished fourth at the qualifier in Scottsdale, Arizona after shooting a round of 72 (E) that included four birdies.
Kayley Marschke and Mychael O'Berry also competed in U.S. Women's Amateur Qualifiers but failed to make the cut. Marschke shot a 76 (+4) to place 32nd while O'Berry finished in a tie for 13th with a 73 (+1) in her event.
Julie McCarthy's busy summer continued in England where she competed for the Great Britain & Ireland team against the Continent of Europe in the Vagliano Trophy. Though her side lost, McCarthy knocked off Florida State's Frida Kinhult, the No. 2 player nationally in 2019, in one of her singles matches.
Incoming freshman Megan Schofill earned medalist honors with a first-place finish at a U.S. Girls' Junior Amateur Qualifier in Cartersville, Georgia. Schofill fired a round of 65 (-7) to win the event.
