AUBURN, Ala. – After missing the first two tournaments of the season with a wrist injury, junior Julie McCarthy will return to the Auburn lineup this week, giving the Tigers a boost as they return to Old Waverly Golf Club (Par 72, 6,320 yards) to play in the Magnolia Invitational.

McCarthy, a WGCA All-American and First Team All-SEC golfer last year, will make her 2019-20 debut in the No. 4 spot in the lineup.

"Practice has been going well, and the competition within the squad has elevated even more now that Julie is cleared to compete after her wrist injury," Auburn head coach Melissa Luellen said. "We are looking forward to getting started. We have a lot of experience at Old Waverly, and we're looking to use it to our advantage."

Five of the six Auburn golfers making the trip, including McCarthy, played in last year's Magnolia Invitational at Old Waverly. Among that group, junior Kaleigh Telfer played the best with a top-15 finish that included a 3-under 69 in the second round.

Telfer, who has shot par or better in five of her six rounds this season, will once again take the top spot in the lineup for the Tigers.

The only golfer who didn't play in the tournament last year is freshman Megan Schofill, but this won't be her first time playing Old Waverly. In August, Schofill played the course at the U.S. Women's Amateur and made to the Round of 16. She was tied for third on the individual leaderboard through two rounds of stroke play.

Schofill will play in the No. 2 spot this week behind Telfer. Then it will be sophomore Brooke Sansom followed by McCarthy and senior Kayley Marschke, who will also be making her 2019-20 debut for Auburn.

Junior Mychael O'Berry will also compete as an individual at the tournament.

The Tigers will be the first group to tee off Sunday, beginning at 8 a.m. CT, and will be paired with Mississippi State and Kennesaw State for the first round. Live scoring can be found on Golfstat.com.
