AUBURN, Ala. – The 2019-20 season couldn't have started much better for Auburn senior Julie Meynen. She enjoyed a standout performance at the SMU Classic over the weekend and then Tuesday was named the SEC Female Swimmer of the Week.

"Julie had a fantastic meet in Dallas this past weekend at the SMU Classic," Auburn head coach Gary Taylor said. "She had some outstanding performances in the 50 free where she posted one of the fastest times in the country and in the 100 free in which she posted the fastest time in the country. Both of those performances have always qualified for NCAAs.

"So she had some great swims and was ready and willing to help the team in any way she could."

Meynen won the Consolation final in the both the 50 free and 100 free and posted NCAA B cut times in both events. Her time of 22.05 in the 50 free was a new lifetime best and also set the meet and pool records. She finished the 100 free in 48.20, which is currently the fastest time in the nation.

The senior from Luxembourg also swam a leg in both the 200 free and 800 free relays, helping Auburn first place in both events. She served as the anchor in the 800 free relay where her split time of 1:45.85 was a lifetime best.

Meynen and the rest of her Auburn teammates will open the home season Saturday with a dual meet against LSU. The meet is set to begin at 10 a.m. CT from the James E. Martin Aquatics Center.
