WEST POINT, Miss. – The Auburn women's golf team shot 1-under par in the second and third rounds of the Magnolia Invitational on Monday to earn a third-place finish at the event.

It was another standout performance from Auburn freshman Megan Schofill on Monday as she followed her 69 (-3) from the day before with two more rounds under par at Old Waverly Golf Club (Par 72, 6,320 yards) to finish second overall, two shots behind the individual winner.

Schofill, playing in just her third tournament at Auburn, fired a 70 (-2) in the second round to start the day and then wrapped up play with another 3-under 69 in round three. She made a total of 13 birdies over the three rounds, and her final score (208) is tied for the sixth-lowest 54-hole score in program history and the second lowest by a freshman.

"Great tournament for freshman Megan Schofill," Auburn head coach Melissa Luellen said. "She hit the ball well and never got out of her ideal performance state. It's great when talent and hard work pays off."

Schofill was one of four Auburn golfers to finish in the top 15 this week.

By playing 36 holes in one day, junior Julie McCarthy proved Monday she was healthy again after missing the first two tournaments with a wrist injury. McCarthy led all competitors with 42 pars through three rounds and finish tied for 9th overall at 2 over.

Sophomore Brooke Sansom saved her best round for last with a 71 (-1) in Monday's third round. Sansom, who was second to McCarthy with 41 pars, carded a 1-over 73 in the second round and placed in a tie for 12th on the player leaderboard.

Junior Kaleigh Telfer also made the top 15, finishing tied for 14th, after shooting rounds of 72 (E) and 73 (+1) on Monday. Telfer was second on the team with nine birdies made.

Rounding out the Auburn contingent was junior Mychael O'Berry and senior Kayley Marschke. O'Berry jumped four spots from Monday into a tie for 35th after turning in scores of 75 and 74 in the second and third rounds. At 12 over, she finished one stroke ahead of Marschke who tied for 37th in her first tournament of the season.

LSU took first place at 8-under par (856), followed by Mississippi State (860), Auburn ( 864), Tennessee (866), Chattanooga (893), Kennesaw State (896), Tulsa (897), South Florida (906), Iowa (908), Memphis (931) and Southern Mississippi (936).
