AUBURN, Ala. – To honor the men and women who serve and have served this great nation in military service, Auburn University has scheduled numerous military-themed events leading up to the 2019 Military Appreciation Game Day on Saturday, Nov. 2 when Auburn hosts Ole Miss at Jordan-Hare Stadium at 6 p.m. CT.
Thursday, October 31:
- 7:05 p.m. – Auburn Soccer will host South Carolina for Hometown Heroes Night at the Auburn Soccer Complex.
Friday, November 1:
- 2 p.m. - Auburn Veterans and service members are invited to a Military Appreciation reception honoring our brave men and women of the United States Armed Forces at the Auburn Alumni Center, located at 317 S. College Street.
- 3 p.m. - Auburn Equestrian will host Ole Miss for Hometown Heroes day.
- In the Goodwin Rooms of the Alumni Center, Mallory Lucier-Greer, an expert in military family transitional therapy, will present at the Auburn Family Friday Speaker Series. The event is free and open to the public.
- 6 p.m. - Auburn Volleyball will host Mississippi State for Hometown Heroes Night in Auburn Arena.
- 30 minutes after Auburn Volleyball, Auburn Men's Basketball will wear the official Under Armour military appreciation shirt during pregame warmups as they host Eckerd for their exhibition opener in Auburn Arena.
Saturday, November 2 – Auburn Football Military Appreciation Day:
- Auburn ROTC Cadets and Midshipmen and student veterans will lead the Auburn football team through Tiger Walk at approximately 4 p.m.
- The Athletics Department and the Auburn Alumni Association will distribute Auburn University-themed commemorative Military Appreciation Day coins for active and retired military personnel with military ID. Coins will be available at Friday's reception and Saturday's Coca-Cola Fan Fest, while supplies last.
- Auburn has partnered with the Dixie Division Military Vehicle Club to bring in historic military display vehicles. The displays will be presented at multiple locations on campus including the Nichols Center and Donahue Drive, which will feature a large American flag fire truck ladder display.
- U.S., Military branch and POW flags will fly around Jordan-Hare Stadium.
- The pregame flyover will be performed by a local F-35 Lightning II aircraft unit.
- The Auburn University Marching Band will perform a special halftime salute to our military. In commemoration of the 75th anniversary of D-Day, veterans (or close family members of veterans) from each service branch who served in WWII will be recognized.
- Auburn University will unveil a POW/MIA chair to remind those who never made it home that they will always have a seat saved for them in Jordan-Hare Stadium.
- Multiple recognitions honoring Auburn University veterans and ROTC cadets will occur throughout the game as well as video board messages from members of the Auburn Football team to friends and family who are currently serving overseas or have served.
