AUBURN, Ala. – The SEC announced the players that will be attending SEC Media Days from each school on Wednesday, and the Auburn contingent is not lacking on experience or stature. The Tigers, who will close out the event next Thursday, will bring offensive lineman Prince Tega Wanogho along with defensive linemen Derrick Brown and Marlon Davidson.
Wanogho, a native of Nigeria, started all 13 games at left tackle for Auburn last season. He's already been named second team All-SEC on Phil Steele's 2019 Preseason SEC Team.
Brown, a first team preseason All-SEC selection by Steele for 2019, might be the most decorated Auburn player attending this year. The rising senior is a three-year starter who is coming off a season in which he finished with 48 tackles, 10.5 tackles for loss and 4.5 sacks. He's also a member of the SEC Student-Athlete Leadership Council and was a finalist for the Jason Witten Collegiate Man of the Year last year.
Like Brown, Davidson has also been a starter the past three seasons. In fact, in 2016 he became the first true freshman to start the season opener on the defensive line in the last 30 years at Auburn. As a junior last year, he recorded 46 tackles, 4.5 tackles for loss and 3.5 sacks and now has 126 tackles in his career.
The trio will accompany head coach Gus Malzahn to Hoover, Alabama next Thursday where they will be joined by Kentucky and Vanderbilt. For Malzahn, this will be his seventh appearance at SEC Media Days.
Last year, the Tigers sent Deshaun Davis, Dontavius Russell and Jarrett Stidham.
