AUBURN, Ala. – The Auburn women's tennis team finished off a perfect 3-0 weekend Sunday afternoon with a 7-0 sweep of visiting Memphis at the Yarbrough Tennis Center.

The Tigers completed the weekend with a 6-0 doubles record and a 17-1 mark in singles, improving to 6-1 as a team on the season.

"Our players did a great job coming out today with a lot of energy after a long day of tennis yesterday," Auburn assistant coach Hadley Berg said. "We saw a lot of good aggressive doubles across the board, which is something we've been working on, so that was encouraging as well as the fight we showed in singles throughout the match. We have a few weeks off now before we start up again, so we're ready to build on some of the things we need to improve as a team and get geared up for the SEC season."

Auburn picked up the doubles point with wins on courts 1 and 3. The ninth-ranked team of Taylor Russo and Selin Ovunc won at the top spot, 6-3, and the Tigers' team of Carolyn Ansari and Lindsay Song took a 6-3 win of their own at the No. 3 spot to clinch the point. Auburn's team of Madeline Meredith and Georgie Axon were a game away, leading 5-3 when play was halted.

In singles, Axon made it a perfect weekend with a 6-1, 6-2 win over Memphis' Monique Woog. It would be 3-0 after Ovunc took down Alisha Reayer, 6-1, 6-2, and a win by Meredith on court 6 clinched the win with a 6-2, 6-1 win at the No. 6 spot over Lina Hohnhold.

Ansari made it 5-0 on court 5 with a 6-3, 6-3 win over Katherine Cao. The other two matches went the distance – Yu Chen finished off a comeback win at the No. 3 spot in a 10-point tiebreak with a 3-6, 6-3, 1-0 (10-8) win. And Russo bounced back from a tough first set to earn a 1-6, 6-3, 7-6 (5) win over Laura Bente at the top singles spot.

Auburn will have nearly three weeks off before it returns to action Feb. 21-22 at the Blue-Gray National Classic in Montgomery; opponents and match times will be announced at a later date. The Tigers' next home match is Friday, Feb. 28, when Auburn hosts South Carolina to open SEC play.
