NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Two days of competition are in the books for the Auburn women's tennis team after six singles matches against Tennessee Saturday afternoon at the Music City Scramble.

The Tigers picked up two wins against the Lady Vols with Selin Ovunc and Taylor Russo coming away victorious. Ovunc won in straight sets over UT's Johanna Silva, 6-2, 6-3, and Russo won in a third-set tiebreaker, 2-6, 7-5, 1-0 (10-8) over Esther Adeshina.

UT's Rebeka Mertena downed Auburn's Shir Azran, 6-2, 6-4; the Tigers' Georgie Axon fell in a close match to Daria Kuczer, 7-5, 6-4; Carolyn Ansari dropped a second-set tiebreaker to fall 6-4, 7-6 to Carly Briggs, and Yu Chen saw two tiebreakers go UT's way as she fell to Tenika McGiffin, 7-6, 7-6.

"We did some really good things today," Auburn head coach Caroline Lilley said. "We fought, fought hard, and we embraced using the entirety of our skill sets. Playing the game of tennis is far different than just striking the tennis ball, and I am pleased with the way we used the whole court."

Auburn will wrap up play Sunday in Nashville as they take on Ole Miss in singles and host Vanderbilt in doubles. Live scoring will be available at VandyStats.com.
