AUBURN, Ala. – Almost seven months to the day after the Auburn women's tennis team last competed, the Tigers will take to the court for the first time in the 2020-21 season this weekend at the Commodore Invitational in Nashville, Tenn.

The tournament runs Friday-Sunday at the Currey Tennis Center on the Vanderbilt campus. Other teams competing will include Tennessee, Ole Miss and the host Commodores.

Play will begin at 9 a.m. Friday with Auburn players competing in singles matches against players from Vanderbilt. The Tigers will then play doubles against both Ole Miss and Tennessee later in the day. Saturday will consist of all singles play with Auburn facing student-athletes from Tennessee, and Sunday will see the Tigers play singles against Ole Miss and doubles against Vandy.

Auburn returns nearly its entire roster from 2019-20 after the NCAA granted an extra year of eligibility to spring student-athletes whose seasons were canceled by the COVID-19 pandemic. Taylor Russo and Georgie Axon return for a fifth year of action, along with other lineup mainstays Madeline Meredith, Selin Ovunc, Carolyn Ansari, Yu Chen and Lindsay Song. The Tigers added two newcomers for this season in freshman Adeline Flach and junior Fresno State transfer Shir Azran.

The Tigers posted an 8-6 record in dual match action in the spring before the season was halted in mid-March; Auburn's last match was a thrilling 4-3 win at Kentucky on March 8. Head coach Caroline Lilley begins her second season at the helm of the Auburn program.
