AUBURN, Ala. – In the last competition before the SEC championships, the Auburn swim and dive program will welcome six other teams to the James E. Martin Aquatics Center this weekend to take part in the Auburn Invitational. It's the third straight year the Tigers have hosted the event, which runs Friday through Sunday.
"We're excited for the meet this weekend," Auburn head coach Gary Taylor said. "We have an opportunity to see some of our athletes get up and perform shaved and tapered. We're really excited to watch some of our seniors compete for Auburn one final time, and we're excited to watch those getting ready for the SEC Championships in a final tune-up.
"This is a really good competition. We'll have competitors from across the southeast and some other SEC schools, so we look forward to hosting this invite and creating a fun environment for those to cap off their season with."
For the Auburn swimmers on the SEC roster, it is a tune-up of sorts as they are only expected to swim one event each. However, for those not on the SEC roster, this will be their last opportunity to swim competitively for the Tigers this season.
That group includes three seniors on the women's side – Annie Boone, Jaqueline Hippi and Sierra Jett – who will be representing Auburn for the final time.
The Tigers will compete against swimmers from Alabama, Emory, Florida, Florida State, LSU and Vanderbilt.
There will be prelims each day, beginning at 10 a.m. CT on Friday and Saturday and 9:30 a.m. CT on Sunday. The finals on Friday and Saturday are set for 5:30 p.m. CT, and then the meet will conclude with Sunday's finals at 3 p.m. CT.
