AUBURN, Ala. – After training throughout the month of December, the Auburn swimmers will return to competition Friday with a dual meet at Georgia Tech. It will be the team's first meet in 2021.

"The team has responded really well to the training," Auburn head coach Gary Taylor said. "I'm happy with what I've seen. I think we've shown a lot of growth mentally and physically, and we've had some really good performances.

"Now you get a breath of fresh air. We go to Atlanta. We compete on their home turf. We get outside of our facility. They've got two quality teams. I think their women's team is much improved, and they've got a team on the men's side that is four or five deep with some really good athletes who spread across a number of events.

"So I think it will be a test and a challenge, but our athletes are excited to compete against someone else. I think they're going to be ready and rearing to go. I'm excited to see how we respond, and I think they're up for the challenge."

In the fall, the Auburn men's and women's teams competed in a dual meet at Georgia and again at home as part of the Auburn Fall Invitational, a three-day midseason invite against Florida. Both teams open the new year ranked in the Top 25 in the latest CSCAA polls.

The Auburn men are ranked No. 22 nationally and will face a Georgia Tech team ranked No. 17, and on the women's side, the Tigers come in at No. 19.

Friday's meet is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m. CT with the 200 medley relay. The divers will not be competing. They are expected to make their 2021 debut next week at Alabama.

The entire Georgia Tech dual meet will be broadcast live on ACC Network.
