MELBOURNE, Fla. – The Auburn women's golf team closed with another solid round Tuesday, shooting under par for the second straight day, and moved up three spots to place fifth overall at the Moon Golf Invitational.

The Tigers, who wrapped up play at 2-under for the week, have now finished fifth or better in each of their last three tournaments going back to the fall season.

"The wind switched today, and the course definitely played tougher than the first two rounds," Auburn head coach Melissa Luellen said. "I was proud of the way the girls kept grinding even when they haven't seen the putts fall this week. We finally had a few more drop today, which was nice to see."

Megan Schofill had the low round of the day for Auburn, shooting a 3-under 69. She made birdie on four consecutive holes on the front nine and added a fifth birdie on the back nine. The sophomore jumped 28 spots into a tie for 37th on the player leaderboard.

Mychael O'Berry and Elina Sinz both finished the tournament at 1-under to lead the Tigers. O'Berry fired a 72 (E) on Tuesday, giving her three straight rounds at par or better, while Sinz closed out with a 1-over 73 in the final round. The Auburn duo made two birdies apiece Tuesday and tied for 13th overall.

Freshman Anna Foster also knocked in two birdies Tuesday and carded a 73 (+1) in the third round. At 2-over for the week, Foster placed in a tie for 31st individually.

Auburn was one of only five teams in the 18-team field to finish under par through three rounds. South Carolina won the event at 24-under par with LSU (-18), Virginia (-10), Florida State (-8) and Auburn (-2) rounding out the top five.

The tournament itself had an Auburn feel to it with hosts Dan and Anne Moon both Auburn alums as well as the Tournament Director, Courtney Trimble.

"It was very special to play in the Moon Golf Invitational," Luellen said. "Both Anne and Courtney are also Auburn Golf alums, so it was quite a treat for our players to get to know them and hear some great stories from their days as part of Auburn Women's Golf. We can't wait to come back next year."

Next up for the Tigers this season is the Gamecock Intercollegiate, which is set to take place March 1-3 from Columbia Country Club in Columbia, South Carolina.
