Tigers set three school records, post five event wins at LSU Alumni Gold Invite

BATON ROUGE, La.—Auburn recorded three school records, had five event wins and notched a combined 15 personal best performances at the LSU Alumni Gold Invitational at Bernie Moore Stadium on the campus of Louisiana State University over the weekend.
 
Senior Kylee Carter won the women's javelin throw and broke her two-year old school record in a big way with a winning toss of 60.69m/199-1, bettering her previous school best by nearly 10 feet. The throw was a Bernie Moore Stadium record and the second longest mark in the country this season. Carter's win was her 19th in an Auburn uniform. Senior Ashly Carter was third in the event with a mark of 50.41m/165-5.
 
Presley Weems continued her stellar outdoor season, winning the women's 800m in a school-record time of 2:03.90. The Hoover, Ala., has twice set the school record in the 800m this season, setting it on April 3 with a time of 2:04.58. Weems has posted the Auburn top three marks all-time in the event this season while also setting a then school mark in the 1500m a month ago.
 
Senior transfer Nils Fischer in the second time in an Auburn uniform, broke the school javelin mark. After setting it on March 26 with a throw of 73.60m/241-9, he surpassed it by two feet Saturday, with a winning throw of 74.30m/243-9. The Dusseldorf, Germany native's distance is seventh nationally this outdoor season.
 
Seniors Eric Brown and Silas Kipngetich also won gold for the Tigers as Brown took home the men's 800m in 1:49.10, while Kipngetich crossed first in the men's 3000m Steeplechase in 9:08.12.
 
Auburn had three men claim silver as Dontavious Hill was second in the men's high jump (2.11m/6-11), James Courson tied for second in the men's pole vault (5.16m/16-11) and Adam Strouf had a PR throw of 18.57m/60-11.25 for silver in the men's shot put. Back in action for the first time in three weeks, sprinter Dante Brown was third in the men's 100m, crossing in 10.27.

Freshman Maura Huwalt had a strong weekend taking silver in the women's discus throw with a PR of 52.30m/171-7, while also establishing a personal best in the shot put (15.75m/51-8.25). Frances Patrick also took home silver in the women's 3000m Steeplechase, crossing in a personal-best time of 10:55.89.
 
Kamiya Dendy took bronze in the high jump (1.76m/5-9.25) while All-American Madi Malone also took third in the hammer throw (64.13m/210-5).
 
Auburn will compete at the Tennessee Challenge in Knoxville, Tenn., on May 1 before taking a week off to prepare for the SEC Outdoor Championships, May 11-13, in Bryan-College Station, Texas.
