AUBURN, Ala. – Auburn basketball is set to host its annual Pro Day for NBA general managers, front office personnel and scouts Oct. 8 at Auburn Arena.
Since its inception four years ago, over 60 NBA representatives have attended the event. All 30 NBA teams are invited to attend Pro Day in which the Tigers will host a practice that will feature select drills put on by the Auburn coaching staff as well as an open-court 5-on-5 scrimmage.
In the Bruce Pearl Era, the Auburn program has had four players drafted in the last three seasons, matching the total draft picks in the program over the previous 25 years. The four draft picks during that 2019-21 window is tied for the seventh most nationally and third best among Southeastern Conference programs.
The 2021 NBA Draft had two Tigers drafted as JT Thor was the 37th overall pick of the Charlotte Hornets while Sharife Cooper was take 48th overall by the Atlanta Hawks. Cooper and Thor were the first Auburn teammates to be drafted in the same year since 2000.
Auburn has had at least one player drafted in three consecutive years for the first time since 1986-88. Chuma Okeke was a first round pick (No. 16 overall) in 2019 and Isaac Okoro (No. 5 overall) was a first-rounder in 2020.
The Tigers return 12 players, including three starters from the 2020-21 team with six newcomers. The new arrivals include transfers Wendell Green Jr., Zep Jasper, K.D. Johnson and Walker Kessler.
Auburn begins the 2021-22 season at home against Morehead State on Nov. 9 in Auburn Arena.
