Women's tennis fall season begins at Virginia

AUBURN, Ala. – The Auburn women's tennis team will begin play for the fall season this weekend as the Tigers compete at the Wahoowa Invitational in Charlottesville, Va.
 
The tournament runs Friday-Sunday at the Virginia Tennis Complex at the Boar's Head Sports Club.
 
Auburn will be joined at the tournament by Kansas, NC State, Old Dominion, Penn State and the host Cavaliers. The Tigers are scheduled to begin play at 1 p.m. CT Friday and at 9 a.m. CT Saturday and Sunday.
 
The Tigers return seven letter-winners from the 2020-21 squad that went 14-9 overall, 7-6 in SEC play and advanced to the second round of the NCAA Tournament. Six of the team's eight players are ranked in the preseason ITA rankings – Selin Ovunc (#33), Carolyn Ansari (#45) and Yu Chen (#116) in singles, and Georgie Axon/Adeline Flach (#19) and Ovunc/Ariana Arseneault (#22) in doubles. Head coach Caroline Lilley begins her third season at the helm of the Auburn program.
