CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. — The Auburn women's tennis team posted an unbeaten day Saturday at the Wahoowa Invitational, picking up four singles wins and two in doubles.
"Match toughness is one of the focuses of the fall," associate head coach Megan Falcon said. "Experiences in pressure situations cannot be replicated in practice, so we embrace tournament play with an excitement to own our games. We will continue to build our house, stone by stone, while embracing opportunities as we earn them."
In singles, Selin Ovunc downed NC State's 48th-ranked Abigail Rencheli, 7-6 (4), 3-6, 1-0 (10) for her first win of the fall. Georgie Axon defeated Chekhylstova of Penn State, 7-5, 6-2. Madeline Meredith made it a 2-0 start to the week with a 6-4, 6-4 win over NC State's 73rd-ranked Sara Nayar, and Anastasia Astakhova made it a singles sweep with a 6-4, 4-6, 1-0 (6) win over Penn State's Nielsen.
