AUBURN, Ala. – Precious Johnson, a 6-5 transfer from the University of Texas, has signed a financial aid agreement and will join the Auburn women's basketball program, head coach Johnnie Harris announced today.
Johnson, from Baytown, Texas, was the No. 33 post player in the class of 2020 according to ESPN HoopGurlz. As a senior at Sterling High School, she averaged 13.3 points, 10.0 rebounds, 2.4 blocks and 1.4 steals per game.
"We are so excited to have Precious join our Auburn women's basketball family," Harris said. "Her size and athleticism will give us a major presence in the paint. Equally important, she brings the experience of competing against All-Americans and being a contributor on an Elite Eight team. Beyond basketball, she is the kind of teammate that will raise the level of our team on and off the court. It's a great day for our Auburn Tigers!"
Johnson appeared in nine games for the Longhorns in 2020-21, averaging 4.0 minutes per game as Texas advanced to the Elite Eight in their first year under coach Vic Schaefer and with Harris on staff as associate head coach.
She will transfer following the fall semester and enroll at Auburn for the 2022 spring semester.
Auburn will open the Johnnie Harris era Thursday, Nov. 4, with an exhibition game against Miles College, and the regular season begins Thursday, Nov. 11, as the Tigers host Georgia Southern.
