AUBURN, Ala. – Four nationally-ranked players from the Auburn women's tennis team will head to one of the biggest tournaments of the fall season this week as the ITA All-American Championships get underway in Mt. Pleasant, S.C.
Carolyn Ansari, ranked 45th nationally in singles, will kick things off in the qualifying singles draw, which gets underway Monday morning. She will face No. 91 Miska Kadleckova of Iowa State at 9:30 a.m. With a win, she would take on the winner of Sara-Maude Fortin (Washington) and Ayana Aldi (South Carolina) later in the day.
The main draw for singles and doubles gets underway Wednesday. Selin Ovunc, ranked 33rd nationally, is in the singles draw. The doubles team of Georgie Axon and Adeline Flach, ranked 19th in the preseason, will compete in that tournament as well. Draws for both tournaments will be available later in the week.
The 64-player qualifying singles draw will produce eight qualifiers for the 32-player main draw. There is no qualifying round for doubles, which consists of 32 teams. Singles and doubles finals will be next Sunday, Oct. 10. The four singles semifinalists and two doubles finalists will earn automatic berths into the ITA National Fall Championships in November.
Live scoring for the tournament will be available via Tennis Ticker. A link will be posted on Auburn's social media accounts.
