Strong start for Tigers at Thunderbird Invite

TEMPE, Ariz. - Auburn women's tennis got off to a strong start at the Thunderbird Invitational with four singles wins and a doubles victory Friday. 

"Today we showed grit and resiliency competing throughout singles and doubles," assistant coach Megan Falcon said. "The conditions were very different and we were able to adapt, which is always great to see."

Auburn started the day 4-for-4 in singles. Junior Selin Ovunc won a wild match over Arizona State's Morlet, 6-7, 7-6, 7-6. Ariana Arseneault won a 3-setter of her own, defeating ASU's Jankowski, 7-6, 2-6, 6-2. 

Georgie Axon won in straight sets over ASU's Argyrokastriti, 6-2, 6-2. And Adeline Flach made it a clean sweep of singles with a 6-3, 6-1 win over Michigan's Craciun. 

In doubles, Ovunc and Arseneault downed Kalatsis and De Las Heras of San Diego, 6-3. Axon and Flach came up short to USD's Colling and Goldsmith, 7-5.
