AUBURN, Ala. – Auburn women's tennis put together two strong performances Sunday to remain unbeaten on the year as the 14th-ranked Tigers swept Clemson and Alabama A&M by identical 7-0 scores.

The Tigers (7-0) dropped just two sets across 18 matches on the day, dropping one doubles match and one set in singles. Auburn's 7-0 start matches the best in program history, equaling the 7-0 start of the 2018 squad.

"The girls have earned some much-needed rest after this weekend," Auburn head coach Caroline Lilley said. "A complete effort from start to finish by all eight of them. We are always looking for ways to improve as we continue developing and maturing. With a short week of practice, we will make recovering a priority as we prepare to travel next weekend."

In the day's first match, Auburn fought hard in all nine matches to earn a 7-0 victory over Clemson. Georgie Axon and Adeline Flach bounced back after a tough setback Friday night vs. Georgia Tech to provide the clinching doubles win, 7-5, over Clemson's Jenna Thompson and Eleni Louka. Selin Ovunc and Ariana Arseneault also picked up a victory, winning 6-3 at the top spot over Cristina Mayorova and Danielle Medvedeva. Madeline Meredith and Carolyn Ansari came up just short, falling 6-4 to Samantha Buyckx and Ali DeSpain.

In singles, 79th-ranked Ovunc turned on the jets in her second set, running away from 70th-ranked Mayorova, 6-3, 6-0, to put Auburn's first singles point on the board. Axon also earned a ranked win at the No. 5 spot, defeating 84th-ranked DeSpain, 6-1, 6-2. And Yu Chen provided the clinching point with a 6-1, 6-4 win over Lana Sipek on court six.

Arseneault made it 5-0 with a 7-5, 6-2 win over Louka. Flach won 7-5, 6-4 on court four to make it 6-0, and 115th-ranked Ansari finished off the sweep with a three-set win over Thompson, 3-6, 6-1, 6-2.

In the day's second match against Alabama A&M, it was all Auburn from the first serve. The Tigers dropped just one game in doubles – Ovunc/Arseneault and Axon/Flach both earned 6-0 wins, and Meredith and Anastasia Astakhova won 6-1.

Meredith picked up her first singles win of the spring with a quick 6-1, 6-1 victory over India Woods on court five. Astakhova won 6-0, 6-0 on court six over Kennedy Ward, and Axon provided the clinching point with a 6-0, 6-1 win over Neha Ghare at the No. 4 spot.

Chen won her second match of the day with a 6-0, 6-0 victory over Camila Ruiz Diaz. Arseneault made it a 4-0 day with a 6-1, 6-2 win over Jasmine Boyd at the top spot, and Flach finished off the day with a 6-2, 6-3 win over Deja Brown on court two.

Auburn will head to Madison, Wisconsin, this weekend for the ITA National Team Indoor Championships, which begin Friday. The tournament draw will be announced early this week.
