AUBURN, Ala. – Returning to the friendly confines of Hutsell-Rosen Track for one final meet of the outdoor season, Auburn track & field will honor its senior class Friday and Saturday at the War Eagle Invitational.
The Tigers' 24 seniors will be recognized prior to the commencement of Saturday's events at 11 a.m. CT on infield of the track.
The meet will also mark the final time that the Tigers' storied head coach Ralph Spry leads a team into battle on home turf after 25 successful years at the helm of the program.
"We had some really solid performances at Ole Miss that have got me excited about what we can do at home this weekend," Spry said. "We're recovering from some injuries, but I am ready for everyone to see just what we can unleash when we tap into our full potential."
Last time out at the Joe Walker Invite, the Tigers racked up six event wins, earning four in track and two in field.
Senior Christopher Grant pulled double duty, earning a victory in the men's 100m dash before anchoring the gold medal-winning 4x100m relay alongside fellow seniors Brandon Smiley, Jason Reese and Jevony Murray.
Freshman Aalliyah Francis and senior Tylar Colbert also impressed for the Auburn sprints squad while in Mississippi. Francis finished first in the women's 400m with a time that was less than two seconds off the freshman record while Colbert won the women's 400m hurdles for the second consecutive year at the Ole Miss Track & Field Complex.
A pair of Auburn jumpers, Dontavious Hill and Janaya Jones, collected the final two wins of the weekend for the Tigers. Hill won the men's high jump and Jones won the women's long jump.
The Tigers will play host to 23 other schools including TFRI South Region foes Alabama State, Georgia Tech, Middle Tennessee, Tennessee, Samford, Southern Miss and Troy.
