AUBURN, Ala. – Five-star men's basketball recruit Yohan Traore (pronounced YO-WON Trey-OAR) has officially signed with Auburn.
The 6-foot-10, 225-pound combo forward out of Dream City Christian School is one of the nation's top prospects. He is currently ranked No. 8 overall in the Class of 2022 by Rivals and Sports Illustrated and No. 15 by 247Sports.
Traore is also the top-ranked player in the state of Arizona. He previously starred at Prolific Prep of Napa Christian High School in Napa, Calif. Last summer, Traore played AAU Basketball with Dream Vision averaging 25 points and 14 rebounds per game as the team went on to win the adidas Boys 3SSB Championship.
"I am so pleased to welcome Yohan to the Auburn Family," Head Coach Bruce Pearl said. "I have great respect for players like Yohan, who come to the U.S. to pursue their academic and athletic dreams, far away from their families. Talk about a cultural fit to our program. Yohan is humble and hungry. He is incredibly disciplined, a hard worker and wants to be coached. He has tremendous upside because of his effort, his attitude, his size and his skill level. Assistant Coach Wes Flanigan did an outstanding job of spearheading his recruitment to Auburn."
He is the second-highest ranked recruit in program history behind All-American, SEC and National Freshman of the Year Jabari Smith (No. 5). Auburn has now signed Top-10 ranked recruits in back-to-back years and Traore is the fourth five-star player Pearl and his coaching staff have signed out of high school.
Originally from Tours, France, Traore joins an Auburn signing class that includes Tre Donaldson, a 6-foot-2 guard out of Florida State University School, and Chance Westry, a 6-foot-6 guard out of AZ Compass Prep School.
A member of the U15 and U16 French National Teams, Traore received invitations to participate in the Nike Hoop Summit (2022), Allen Iverson Roundball Classic (2022), Pangos All-American Camp (2021) and NBPA Top 100 Camp (2021).
