AUBURN, Ala. – In the finale nonconference test of the regular season, No. 16 Auburn softball (36-10) treks to Montgomery to face Alabama State (18-26) Wednesday at Barbara Williams Softball Complex in the Tigers' final midweek contest of the regular season.
"Wednesday will give us one last chance to work on areas that we want to clean up before we head into this final stretch of conference games," said head coach Mickey Dean.
First pitch is set for 5 p.m. CT on Wednesday. Alabama State will stream the game on its YouTube channel. The broadcast stream will not feature announcers but will provide live sound from the complex.

LEADING OFF
- In the final nonconference test of the regular season, Auburn softball makes the short trek to Montgomery, Alabama to face Alabama State in a midweek tilt on Wednesday. Auburn is searching for its 15th straight win over the Hornets.
- Behind a pair of home runs at Mississippi State, Bri Ellis has tied Kasey Cooper for the program's freshman home run record at 18. Ellis currently stands tied for fifth in Auburn single-season history in home runs and is just four shy of shattering the record.
- Picking up a road series victory at Mississippi State, Auburn has won nine Southeastern Conference contests, surpassing its 2021 total. It's Auburn most wins in league action since picking up 10 in 2019.
- With a complete-game effort in Sunday's rubber game at Mississippi State, Maddie Penta brought her SEC-leading wins total to 22. She is now tied with Lexi Davis (2014) for sixth in Auburn single-season history. Penta ranks fourth nationally in wins.
- Behind its shutout victory at Mercer, Auburn secured its 30th win of the 2022 season. This marks Auburn's first 30-win series since 2019. With seven regular-season contests remaining, Auburn is searching for its first 40-win season since 2018.
- Behind her seven strikeouts versus Chattanooga, Maddie Penta surpassed 200 strikeouts for her sophomore season. She is the first Tiger to hit the milestone since Anna Thompson in 2010. Penta's season strikeout total now stands at 221, the seventh most in a single season on the Plains.
- With a solo bomb at Mississippi State, Nelia Peralta became just the third Tiger in school history to record double-digit home runs during their freshman season. Peralta joins Bri Ellis in the 10+ home run club, marking the first time in school history Auburn has had two freshmen with double-digit homers in the same season.
- Behind 12 different Tigers going yard this season, Auburn has totaled 77 home runs in 2022, the fourth most in a single season in program history.
- Standing at 36-10, Auburn holds a .783 win percentage in 2022. The mark is good for the third highest among all 13 SEC programs. Auburn's win percentage is also ranked 13th in the country.
- Thirty-nine of Auburn's 77 home runs in 2022 have been slugged by the Tiger freshmen class. Four Tiger freshmen have recorded multiple home runs this season with three hitting at least eight.
