AUBURN, Ala. – The College Swimming & Diving Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) named 28 Auburn swimmers and divers to its Scholar All-American Team for the 2021-22 season, the organization announced Wednesday.
Fourteen of the 28 Auburn representatives were First-Team Scholar All-American selections, up from five a year ago. The Tigers had 19 in all on last year's team.
To qualify for First-Team Scholar All-America, student-athletes earned a minimum GPA of 3.5 and participated in their national championship. Second-Team selections also earned a 3.50 GPA or higher and achieved a "B" time standard for the national championship or participated at a diving zone qualification meet.
This year's group from Auburn was made up of 15 women and 13 men. The women's team had nine First-Team selections with Avery Bargeron, Carly Cummings, Rebekah Hamilton, Meghan Lee, Mykenzie Leehy, Payton Marvin, Hannah Ownbey, Averee Preble and Emma Steckiel while the men had five earn First-Team honors with Michael Bonson, Conner Pruitt, Jacques Rathle, Aidan Stoffle and Nate Stoffle.
On Monday, the CSCAA selected Auburn's men's and women's teams to the Scholar All-America Team for the Spring 2022 semester. Teams were selected on the basis of their Spring grade point averages. The women finished with a 3.52 GPA while the men had a 3.3 GPA – second highest in the SEC among the 10 men's teams.
