Competed in 10 meets throughout the season... Earned NCAA B cuts in the 200 free (1:35.00), 500 free (4:11.03) and 1650 free (15:05.02)... Started the year with a second-place finish at the SMU Classic with a 4:19.05 in the 500 free... Picked up his first win of the year at Alabama with an 8:58.97 in the 1000 free... Scored 65 points at the SEC Championships, finishing fourth in the 500 free (4:12.75), fourth in the 1650 free (14:46.50) and 14th in the 200 fly (1:44.58)... Added 54 points as part of the 800 free relay (6:11.03), finishing third... Scored 18 points at the NCAA Championships, finishing eighth in the 500 free (4:14.00), 10th in the 1650 free (14:43.69) and 32nd in the 200 free (1:33.28)... Added eight points as part of the 800 free relay (6:12.16), finishing 13th... In total, Mathias racked up one All-American and two All-American Honorable Mention Honors at NCAAs... His 4:10.82 in prelims at NCAAs lowered Mathias' program record in the 500 free and the 6:11.03 in the 800 free relay set an Auburn record in the event.
2022-2023
Competed in meets throughout the season... Earned NCAA B cuts in the 200 free (1:34.09), 500 free (4:13.06), 1650 free (14:42.99) and 200 fly (1:42.95)... Picked up a pair of victories to start the season at the USC Invite in the 500 free (4:18.73) and 1650 free (15:29.62)... Collected four more victories across the 2022-23 campaign, winning the 1000 free (9:14.40) and 500 free (4:26.11) at LSU, the 200 fly at Georgia Tech (1:50.27) and the 1000 versus Alabama (8:51.45)... Scored 72 points at the SEC Championships, finishing ninth in the 500 free (4:13.06), fourth in the 1650 free (14:42.99) and 11th in the 200 fly (1:42.95)... Added 56 points as part of the 800 free relay (6:12.39), finishing second for SEC Team All-SEC Honors... Scored two points at the NCAA Championships, finishing 15th in the 500 free (4:15.25), 17th in the 1650 free (14:48.92) and 34th in the 200 free (1:34.00)... Added 22 points as part of the 800 free relay (6:11.64), finishing eighth... In total, Mathias earned one All-American and one All-American Honorable Mention Honor at the NCAA Championships... His 1:34.00 in the 200 free at the NCAA Championships moved Mathias to No. 9 all-time in program history, he set the Auburn record in the 500 free with a 4:12.15 at the NCAA Championships, set the program record in the 1000 free (8:51.45) versus Alabama and moved to No. 2 all-time in the 1650 free with a 14:42.99 at the SEC Championships... The 6:11.64 his team put together in the 800 free relay at NCAAs reset the program record.
2021-2022
Competed in nine meets throughout the season... Earned NCAA B cuts in the 500 free (4:20.15), 1650 free (1508.97) and the 200 fly (1:45.41)... Grabbed his first collegiate podium versus Georgia in the 200 fly (1:51.10)... Won his first college event at Alabama in the 200 fly (1:49.26)... Scored 27 points at the NCAA Championships, finishing 16th in the 500 free (4:21.56), 15th in the 1650 free (15:08.97) and 21st in the 200 fly (1:45.41).
